Everyone connected to Fombl will be very sad to learn that Heather Goodare passed away on 22nd June at the age of 93. This was just one year after her beloved husband Ken. Heather was a driving force within FoMBL for many years, as convener and newsletter editor and much more. She was often seen collecting litter in her yellow bib and pursing a number of improvements to the Meadows such as the new toilets which will be open soon near Melville Drive.
As a breast cancer survivor Heather was especially concerned about the toxic effects of certain weed killers and campaigned to scrap them. She even wrote a wonderful book called "Foiled Creative Fire: a study of remarkable women with breast cancer".
While her passing is a very sad occasion, she lived a very full and active life and leaves behind a wonderful legacy of campaigning to improve and preserve the meadows and links. She was a true inspiration and role model.
A service of Thanksgiving will be held at Christ Church, Morningside, July 25th at 11:00 am, to which all family and friends are warmly invited.
